If you need your track to pan-sweep during the whole song, i recommend to use a dedicated pugin, like GVST : |

Just disable the grid lines (press button at top of Reaper screeen). The lines will disappear. Then you can make splits exactly where you want them. Don't forget to re-press the grid button later to re-set the grid lines. I do this all the time when creating and editing samples for looping. Also disable "snap to grid" button as well. I do pan sweeping using envelopes too and they seem to work fine. Make sure you actually havea pan envelope in place and that you're not accidentally using the volume envelope insread (easy to do). If all comes to worse, glue or render your enveloped items afterwards. The originals will still be accessible for later editing. Mike |

Also: the dynamic splitting of longer items is a great tool to split at transients (right click on item after selecting it and you'll find the command; I think it's under Item Processing). Speep panning: try dividing your item into smaller items and add panning envelopes to those for more accurate panning at specific points. Don't forget to glue all items when you're completely satisfied. It makes it harder if you only add a pan envelope to the entire long original item. Also try the wide stereo option (right click on pan button in track panel). That might help broaded your panning as well. Mike |

Well, I guess you found the envelope window, so check 'Pan' under Track Envelopes', set 'Automation mode' to 'Latch', play the track, create some envelope points by moving the pan knob, set 'Automation mode' back to 'Trim/Read', edit your envelopes manually to sweep as desired, .... that should work, and if it doesn't, I'd like to know what does happen. There's a little icon like a horseshoe, top left, controlling Snap. Right click on it, and change 'line spacing' to your desired value. Last edited by Fex; 12-15-2011 at 12:59 PM. |

Another way, which is similar to the autopan plug-in in Cubase, is by using parameter modulation. Insert a js:vol/pan plug via the fx button. Follow the instructions in the user manual as to how to use parameter modulation to affect the pan position slider using a beat synced LFO. Hope this helps. |
